I have Magix Video Deluxe 2007 and have now increased this problem;
if I have a avi file download, which is approximately 700MB in size, the program makes it a ca.4GB file!
I can not multiple movies on a dvd .... hew
I must as a hook somewhere inside / or. make out?
it is enlarged for a dvd is clear to me why, but equally as big?
the other problem;
if I make a DVD VOB file upload, then it makes the audio file off .... why?

AVI is a container format and says only that the content of video - and audio data may exist. About the actual content or use Compression (codec) but says nothing.
Check the original file with GSpot times and compare the result with the project settings in the MVD. You may be from a DivX video hochkomprimierten a little compressed DV-AVI? - For the processing of DVD-Video would not be so wrong. ;-)
