Hi.
Over the years I have accumulated several disks, which I occasionally would like to access (or must). In my editing computer had I spent 2 HDDs (system-and project record). Now I am looking for an inexpensive solution to my plates to external clusters, so that I do not always my USB casing and unscrew the HDD needs to access the required disk access. Are there any effective solutions, which can accommodate 3-4 plates and the work reliably. The best course would be, the individual plates can be switched to the heat and noise levels have to be limited.
How do you that?
I'm thankful for every tip!

How do you that? There have been so with the time to accumulate the 15 hard disks on which material is stored. But meanwhile, I have 4 external combo enclosure (with Firewire and USB ports) in use, all of which are not zugeschraubt. The hard disks are internal only angestöpselt, but not tight. On a smooth, flat, electrically non-conductive surface in the interior of the housing is no problem.
The handling is okay and, above all, very flexible. Better solutions are always of course.

There was / is SCSI enclosure with 3 or 4 x 5.25 shaft, which are now
synonymous with other interfaces (USB / IEE1394/LAN) ...
Individually switchable, the plates will not be.
The alternatives are for each panel USB - housing around ~ 17 - EUR (advantage: flexible and if all of a housing needs takes Manufacturer
synonymous to a 5 power supplies), or the good old hard-on frame for
to ~ 5 - EUR ... The only hitch: not HotPlug capable. But otherwise ...?

The alternatives are for each panel USB - housing around ~ 17 - EUR ... ... where you at this price no adequate cooling may be expected. For any operation, I would only housing with ordinary fans take or accept only those synonymous. Costs for combo version and 40 ¬ more.

Two of my cabinet are combos (Firewire and USB) of Mapower: H51-C1P (is not currently manufactured). It must, however, an additional front fan, as the fans back by its unfavorable position (inside the intake housing partly hidden) is not very efficient.
Of the other two enclosures I have neither Manufacturer nor name.
