It is always amazing what a good film maker can do with VDSLRs Sun Shots Even with rapid movements (such as the brilliant football scene) look very good despite lame CMOS.
Then I ask myself slowly, whether it is for me as an amateur at all worth it to wait for the Scarlet, but when you get one sixth of the price for a 550D (keyword accessories).

And yes - you can work very well with a VDSLR - especially if you work for scenic design. A 550D or VDSLR I would therefore recommend each with ambitions - probably even more as a Scarlet!
So my tip - lend you for a weekend once a VDSLR Cam - write to you before a few times on key points like what you like "planned to film" - and then you will surely synonymous get satisfactory recordings.
I would try this place and perhaps time s.deiner then decide whether a CMOS "lame" or whether a Scarlet might be slightly too high.
I wish a lot of fun because it is really worth that system at test time.

Not generally a CMOS, but the sensors VDSLRs're often somewhat lame in the composition, leading to rolling shutter.

I already have one, the Nikon D90. But since just missing Mauell settings, the lowlight is very bad (in spite of large sensor), it has no microphone jack, bad Resolutionusw. However, I currently work with this because it is my only HD-Cam. And as we come to the next question:

Well: A good low-light behavior, autofocus (even via touch screen), two balanced microphone inputs, 150 fps for slow motion, good picture quality, very high resolution (3k). This is roughly what I hope of the Scarlet. But since the 550D is out, you can get for very little money a real alternative to SemiPro camcorders and the Scarlet (if they then sometimes appears that Epic is so preorder now).
But I should not spamming the thread with my decision problems, sorry ;-)

A HDV with 35mm adapter produces the same Picture. I think the problem is that many confuse here the "Production Value" with the pure picture of the camera. Shane Hurlbut had made with another camera equivalent Picture, this is about the interplay of picture-and lighting design.

You have in some ways right. But not in others. It is with 1 / 3 to 1 / 2 inch chips no such Lowlight, exactly the opposite. The adapter swallow light. The DoF-effects with 35mm adapters are generally better to be especially sharp-soft shifts. Therefore, the better VDSLR movies DoF used sparingly and not as an end in itself. When it comes to the interplay of light and image design, the Canon's the great advantage to have deliberately brought about to achieve the same lighting effect with much less effort. This leads to the provocative assertion of me that no shorts exist with conventional camcorders, which actually manage the look (and perhaps likely due to the greater part of the fact that a Adapter Setup harder and more complicated all the trappings - more light is needed - is ). Evidence to the contrary?
Also striking: Although the plot - a "movie of life" - such as hackneyed and frankly a pretext for a look-demo is, it points out that no videos exist, with or without the adapter, the so hackneyed material on such impressive Art implement. What prevents them? Can not synonymous with a normal camera which, as you write, "Production value reached" this clip? Could not at least music, performers, stage and cut his clever? Or it is worth all this not with a video-mill?
We have had almost 2 years and EX3 with Letus A1. The films of other festivals or on the web, we follow closely.

In the right hands, the 5D is obviously a great tool. Thus, the look, if people understand their craft. A good story, good crew, good actors and then this sense of timing and editing, then you're gonna get out of such small works of art. But only synonymous. The "branch sharp / forest blurred, forest is sharp / branch blurred" Group fabricate still jammed, quick pans over blinds, with strunzlangweiligen night shots of strunzlanweiligen cities stop up the video portals and on Aps-c, full frame, rigs, compendia, Follow Focus, RS , DoF, Aliaising CACS and lament, Philip Bloom basher and yearn for a better tool.
