as a beginner, I would like dates of dubbing my sony (without usb) on the pc.
should I install a firewire card s.pc? what is recommended?
is there another solution?

Let me think for me, how was it like when I installed the last time an IEEE1394 card? - No, I had to install anything.

Why do not you try on the easy out and then come to the conclusion that USB (as of most other video editing programs synonymous) is not supported? ;-)
