Hello,
most recently at the premiere reproducing something is delayed, what makes me mad is when cut. I have therefore decided me my hard disk completely redesigned and specially set up for editing.
(OS win xp)
1. prim part.: xp and other programs
2. prim part.: video editing programs
Advanced: 1 audio video data
2. temp. data
3. Other data
I am a little unsure with the partition, because when I use the xp've never done. Therefore my question:
s.was is strange with this hidden partition, which is s.anfang xp. I really need the recovery than if I use the recovery-cd's that?
b) has as cheap Slashcam partition software XFDisk proposed. However, Do I need a floppy, which I do not have. or burnt, I can not use cd instead? any other tip?
c)-stupid-when I ask at the 2nd prim. partition only the video playing software on it is cheap / necessary as well the operating system to install xp?

Previously, it was on a partition as the target volume rendering processes run faster from. This is probably no longer, although it (or just really felt?) For Firewire harddisks applies. What determines is still current, is the problem of fragmentation of a single hard drive little silly with files that are then especially when capturing, but synonymous with playing the video files in the huge way. Good would be one from the operating system, programs and archival folders separate partition for "Large Temporary Files", ie media, audio - video and render files. After completion of work, you can completely delete the partition and has a dust-and crumb-free desktop. The editing program along with XP on an extra partition to pack, will advance as fears that other applications, updates, or even viruses with the video programs interact, so that someday they zig. Whether this is so, I do not know can harm's so hard. However, would you get with three partitions, otherwise you have your calculator fragmentierst through this kind of garbage separation nor voluntarily ;-)

I do not know whether this is still current. For reasons of portability are two external plates or plates already. But I guess almost that Windows is now passable so that synonymous data on the system disk can store. At least the Mac is no problem A second partition is perhaps a little clearer, since there is no system files on it, but only best-if-graded excellent project folder.

Can you - but I would still be avoided if I had the choice. The advantage is simple, fast, failing that takes an image, which is just the system partition and program - and thus relatively small. Data separately, I would always keep synonymous for reasons of clarity.

So I think that three partitions really enough. your tutorial has helped quite good. But I understand correctly that I have the same partition when aufstezen of windows can be set up? that would be practically (and then would have to ask for the hidden partition will do ...) then I need only a true image ...

And true - a separate PC interface, which does not depend s.Netz is simply still the best solution in terms of trouble-free production. I have here with me a (very old) Internet PC, and then just the average PC. If you cut a lot, which already pays out, I think.
