1.meine old Sony890 has a DV output.
My Gericom Hummer laptop has no corresponding input.
My magix always says: No Cam connected.
How do I understand correctly in a row and operational?

2.meine new JVC GR 5oo has a DV output (problem as above)
but has an additional USB output.
If the USB into the laptop comes synonymous: No Cam connected

hmmm ... I understand the first part of your question is not quite there .... if you have not connected yet (because there is no connection), how is your laptop a CameraLink find?
Genrell: USB for data transfer = Bad ... because does not always work, usually do not. Firewire is better, because it works almost always :-)

Hello!
There are cards of PCMCIA adapter on Firewire (google). This should be synonymous to your notebook upgradeable.
