Hi Tim,
I have seen videotapes of any tests since the end of the analog age, no more. The tape material is in the storage of digital data is no longer such a large influence on image quality.
Digital Video (MiniDV, D8) operator rather make sure that it cooperates well with the respective camcorder video tape, that does not occur at all or only a few drop-outs. These experiences are very individual and of camcorder camcorder (even if the same models) are mixed.
My TRV310 gets mostly cassettes of TDK, Sonyand EMTEC (formerly BASF). If possible, I buy Hi-8 tapes (MP), because I believe (not know) that these are higher quality than Digital8 tapes. ;-)
