In dark places you must check what the automatic aperture value suggests. If it is + 3 dB, you can get over this, it is + 9 dB, you can hardly save recording. And yes it is even higher: Snow Warning! A Picture's too dark, with open aperture without gain looks better. As long as only at least the main part of the scene was illuminated.
Of course, different cameras have better or worse Lowlight properties. Through its suitability as a professional device but says nothing. On the contrary: Larger Lenses tend to swallow more light. Professionals and provide sufficient light
