As one of the first (Chinese) manufacturers, Sirui began to shake up the anamorphic lens market six years ago with affordable lenses, initially with an APS-C/S35 optic; meanwhile, full-frame versions are also in the product range. Now, Sirui is launching its first full-frame anamorphic lenses with autofocus—another first; in our opinion, only a few anamorphic lenses with a smaller image circle currently offer automatic focusing.

The Sirui ASTRA 1.33x series is also characterized by an impressive maximum aperture of T1.8. Furthermore, the lenses are compactly built, weighing between 600 and 700 grams and being around 130mm long.
The three prime lenses, 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm, are expected to be released with relatively similar dimensions and a 67mm filter thread. They will be available for E-Mount, Z-Mount, and L-Mount systems—Sirui has been a member of the L-Mount Alliance since March.
In the 16:9 format, the 1.33x squeeze factor results in a classic aspect ratio of 2.35:1 after de-squeezing. There are two different options for the flare style: users can choose between the "cool" bluish streak flare or a more neutral light streak.
The minimum focusing distance is 50, 60, or 70cm, respectively. The aperture can optionally be de-clicked. According to SIRUI, they have improved their AF technology so that the ASTRA lenses should offer stable and smooth focusing. The focus module can be switched via a toggle. The manual focus ring features a precise focus distance scale that is intended to be compatible with follow-focus and LiDAR systems.
As part of its warranty program, Sirui offers a 3-year replacement warranty that should cover all non-user-caused issues, provided a lens has been registered.
These lenses will also be launched via crowdfunding. Currently, each Astra focal length can be pre-ordered on Kickstarter for (regular price ). The set of three lenses (50mm, 75mm, 100mm) costs ,399.
