Soon a Kickstarter project will start, which seeks to offer the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K twofold benefits -- an external power supply in the form of a handle. Both could suit the camera well in principle.
The Power Solution was developed by an Australian film maker and tinkerer for his own use and is powered by four type 18650 Li-Ion batteries. On board are three power output options, 5V 1.2A, 12V 2.5A and 7V 2A. A power indicator display is integrated. The battery block can be attached to a camera cage via a rosette mount, as a counterpart to the right-hand handle on the camera. However, adapters for Sony NP-F and Canon LP-E6 Battery Plates should also be included. Lights or similar can also be operated in this way.
The video shows a working prototype with a housing from the 3D printer; the finished product will be made of ABS plastic by injection moulding. How much the Power Solution weighs and what it will cost is not yet known.
