Under its premium cine lens label XEEN, Samyang is launching the new XEEN Meister lineup of 35mm T1.3, 50mm T1.3 and 85mm T1.3 lenses, with an XEEN Anamorphic 50mm T2.3 also appearing. The lenses are said to be suitable for high-end digital film production with full-frame cameras and support 8K resolution.

.
The high-resolution lenses in the XEEN Meister lineup are matched in color reproduction and feature an X-Coating -- said by Samyang to offer a distinct look with "flare and ghosting for dramatic effects." The aperture is composed of 13 blades (previous XEENs had 11). The focus rotation angle of the master optics is 300° (previously only 200°), while the aperture is 92°.

XEEN Meister 35mm T1.3, 50mm T1.3 and 85mm T1.3
The new series is closer in scale to the "original XEENs" than to the more compact XEEN CF - the front diameter is 114mm, and although made of strong and lightweight materials such as carbon and titanium, the lenses weigh 1.9Kg and 2.3Kg respectively, which is even more than the first XEENs. The location of the focus and aperture rings is consistent across the range for easy changeover in rigs.
The XEEN Meister lenses 35mm T1.3, 50mm T1.3, 85mm T1.3 are also offered for three different camera mounts, PL-, Sony E- and Canon EF-mount. On the PL mount, metadata recording is supported via /i protocol.
XEEN Anamorphic 50mm T2.3
The
XEEN Anamorphic 50mm T2.3 is a 2x anamorphic lens that can produce footage in the original cinema widescreen format of 2.55:1. It will weigh 3.9Kg and will be available for PL mount cameras. Dimensions are 128.0 x 198.6mm (front diameter 114mm), and the aperture consists of 15 blades. The closest focusing distance is 1m, and the focus travel is 300° here as well.
There is no information yet on prices and availability of the three XEEN Meister lenses and the anamorphic lens.
