The Capturing/Playback Box Io 4K Plus is AJA's first product using Thunderbolt 3. The box has two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, 12G/6G/3G/3G/1.5G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 inputs and outputs and works with editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro X and the Avid Media Composer. AJA Io 4K Plus supports 8-, 10- and 12-bit 4:2:2 (at a resolution of 4K at 60fps maximum) and 4:4:4:4 video over 12G-SDI or HDMI along with 16 channels of embedded SDI audio and 8 channels of HDMI audio.

Up to 6 units can be connected in series via Tunderbolt 3. HDR 10 and HLG can be output via the HDMI output. AJA Io 4K Plus can also convert 4K/UltraHD video material to 2K/HD for real-time monitoring. The current is supplied by 12 volt 4-pin XLR. AJA Io 4K Plus will be delivered from October at a price of approximately ,500. There will also be an Avid Artist | DNxIV christened version specially for working with Avid, which masters 16-bit audio and has a microphone input on the front. Avid Artist | DNxIV is also sold through the Avid network at a price of about ,000.
