AJA innovations: OG-ColorBox, KONA IP25, Virtual KONA and more

AJA announced a whole range of new products and updates at IBC 2024, including an openGear version of the ColorBox, AJA&s tool for color management and conversion, plus the firmware 3.0 with a number of new features, as well as the KONA IP25 PCIe IP video/audio card, Virtual KONA, OG-C10DA, and new AJA Diskover Media Edition plug-ins plus update.

OG-ColorBox

The

OG-ColorBox brings the color management and conversion toolset of the AJA ColorBox into an openGear format, allowing for live production work on-site. OG-ColorBox offers very low latency, support for working with 4K/UltraHD High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Wide Color Gamut (WCG), extensive HDR/WCG conversion options, color correction, and custom look-up tables (LUT) for live production. Its features cover the full spectrum of color management, from special camera color correction to processing camera logs, and converting SDR to/from HDR in real time, and much more.

ColorBox v3.0 Update

The new firmware v3.0 for the AJA ColorBox brings a host of new features, including support for the new openGear OG-ColorBox, a new SDR-to-Dolby-Vision preview mode, and ARRI Alexa 35 LogC4 Wide Gamut 4 WVO support in live mode via the Colorfront license. The update also provides a configurable ACES AMF pipeline, additional support for .CLF and .CTF files, the ability to configure SDI and HDMI outputs for color space and bit depth, and other improvements.

KONA IP25

The new

KONA IP25 PCIe IP video/audio card is designed to meet the demands of SMPTE ST 2110 production environments and offers 10/25 GigE SFP, multi-channel UltraHD support, uncompressed bidirectional SMPTE ST 2110 capabilities, 2022-7 redundancy, compatibility with popular third-party apps, and much more. The 8-lane PCIe Gen 4.0 card is designed for broadcast, TV/film, OB trucks, venues, studios, schools, houses of worship, new developments, post-production, and AJA development partners, facilitating the adoption of the latest IP standards.

Virtual KONA

Virtual KONA was developed in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and offers a software-defined, virtualized video capture and playback solution, scheduled for release in 2025. Virtual KONA integrates the AJA NTV2 Software Development Kit (SDK) with the AWS Cloud Digital Interface (CDI). AWS CDI is a network technology for transporting uncompressed video within the cloud with high reliability and a latency of only 8 milliseconds.

OG-C10DA

The

OG-C10DA is AJA&s latest addition to the openGear product line. The openGear-compatible 1x9 analog distribution amplifier simplifies signal management in broadcast, production, and ProAV environments with 8 BNC outputs and an additional output for loop-out/processing. It integrates with NTSC/PAL, sync, and AES3-id signals and offers control via the DashBoard software for straightforward configuration and management.

AJA Diskover Media Edition

For AJA’s media management software Diskover Media Edition, new plug-ins for PixitMedia’s Ngenea and Spectra Logic’s RioBroker, as well as a software update, have been announced. The new software version 2.3 brings UI improvements to optimize data management and transfer workflows. The new plug-ins and enhancements in version 2.3 offer greater flexibility to work with a broader range of tools and manage data catalogs more efficiently, allowing users to make more informed decisions about the data stored on their local, remote, and cloud storage.
