AJA introduces Io X3 Thunderbolt 3 capture and playout box with HDMI and 3G-SDI

AJA Video Systems has introduced the compact Io X3, a professional video and audio I/O Thunderbolt 3 capture and playout box. It can be used to capture and also output video and audio (HDR/SDR) applications via 3G-SDI and HDMI on Thunderbolt 3-equipped Macs or PCs.

Io X3 is designed to be a mobile solution for single-, two- and multi-channel SDI workflows such as high-end color correction, audio mixing, on-set monitoring or playback, and remote editing and VFX, which enables 2K/HD/SD input/output, including in HDR, directly from a laptop or computer. Io X3 is also suitable for streaming workflows, as it has four independent inputs for workflows with OBS and wirecast, as well as simultaneous MultiView monitoring for each source.

Io X3 also has eight switchable analog audio ports that allow users to switch between eight incoming or outgoing channels, or split connectivity between four inputs and four outputs, in addition to a 3.5 analog audio port to connect headphones directly.

Up to 16 channels of audio are available on each SDI port, with 8 channels available via HDMI. Compact and rack-mountable, the Io X3 units can be placed side-by-side in a rack for studio, mobile truck or video assist needs, allowing users to benefit from up to eight channels of up to 2K/HD/SD I/O in a 1RU.

New AJA Desktop Software and SDK v16.2

AJA Video Systems also introduced the new

free desktop software v16.2 for all KONA, Io and T-TAP Pro products, as well as the AJA SDK v16.2 for developers. The new version features a variety of workflow enhancements, new OBS Studio compatibility, improved 12-bit, 444, RGB workflows for 4K/UltraHD, updated LUT functionality, new codec and special playback support in the control room, and enhanced multichannel audio.

Desktop Software v16.2 is available today as a free download from the AJA website and includes support for macOS Monterey and Windows 11. Once installed on a system running OBS Studio v27.2 or later, select AJA devices are immediately available for multi- or single-channel recording and switching up to 4K/UltraHD 30p and 2K/HD 60p.
