If you are looking for a cheap and large second monitor for multi-monitor setups, you should take a closer look at the new model from AOC, because with the AOC Q3279VWFD8 AOC has introduced an improved sister model of the Q3279VWFF. Compared to its predecessor, which was equipped with an MVA panel and cost only
180 Euro, the new monitor features a 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) IPS panel that covers a larger color space, namely 88% of the NTSC, 98% of the sRGB and 86% of the Adobe RGB color space. Both models are 31.5" (80 cm) in size and have a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels with a contrast ratio of 1200:1 and a refresh rate of 75 Hz.
The brightness of 250 cd/m² is slightly below average - the viewing angle of 178° horizontal and vertical corresponds to the standard. Interfaces include an HDMI 1.4 output, a DisplayPort 1.2, a DVI dual-link and a VGA port - a USB hub is not integrated.

AOC's Flicker-Free technology avoids screen flicker by regulating the brightness not by pulse width modulation (PWC) but by using direct current (DC). PWC can cause problems such as burning eyes and headaches for users when the screen signal is switched on and off at too low a frequency to digitally control brightness.
The low price of around 250 euros is reflected in reduced ergonomics: the AOC Q3279VWFD8 can only be tilted 2° forwards or 21.5° backwards - unfortunately no height adjustment or rotation is necessary. The AOC Q3279VWFD8 is scheduled to be launched in July.
