Finally,
Adobe officially confirmed that Nikon N-RAW support will be available in Adobe Premiere Pro later this year. This is quite a surprise, because
Adobe announced about a year ago that it would no longer pursue support for N-RAW in Premiere Pro.
This, in turn, was preceded by RED surprisingly adding Nikon N-RAW support to its
RAW tool RedCine-X Pro at the beginning of the month.

Nikon's N-RAW will be supported directly via the RED SDK in Premiere.
This also clarifies why the development of an N-RAW importer in Premiere Pro was suspended. N-RAW support will be provided in the future directly via an update of RED's SDK. Thus, Adobe no longer has to handle the code for the importer itself; it will be directly available in the application via the SDK in the future.
At the same time, virtually all programs that previously enabled R3D import via the RED SDK will also be able to import Nikon's N-RAW. A very "clever" move by Nikon, allowing them to ensure support in most popular video applications via this detour.
To what extent the Belgian company intoPIX is involved remains completely open. After all, Nikon's N-RAW is based on
intoPIX/Tico RAW technology. Since RED RAW patents previously hung over Nikon's RAW like a sword of Damocles, the acquisition of RED should finally bring peace to this area. The only question that remains is whether, as a third-party camera manufacturer, one could continue to license Tico RAW in the future and whether this would then also be directly supported by the RED SDK...
