Apple has introduced two new features for its AirPods in-ear headphones at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which, in combination with the iPhone/iPad, are particularly interesting for mobile creators. Firstly, there is the possibility of making studio-quality audio recordings, and secondly, you can operate the camera of an iPhone via AirPods to start or stop video recordings remotely. ![]()
Studio-Quality Audio RecordingThe firmware update is intended to give recordings made via AirPods, such as for interviews, podcasts, or vocals, an even higher audio quality than before. The improved audio recording can also be used together with the voice isolation function to filter out disturbing noises in loud environments from the audio track. Apple&s H2 chip, the beamforming microphones, and computational audio work together to make the voice texture more natural and also make the sound clearer during iPhone calls, FaceTime, and CallKit-enabled apps. ![]() The new studio-quality audio recordings, along with improved call quality, work on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac and are also supported by the Camera app, Voice Memos, the dictation function in Messages, apps for video conferencing, and compatible camera apps from other providers. Camera Remote ControlAnother new feature is the camera remote control via AirPods, which can be used in the Camera app or compatible camera apps from other providers on the iPhone or iPad to take a photo or start or stop video recordings from a distance - simply by repeatedly pressing and holding the bottom of the AirPods. This is practical, for example, when you are making recordings of yourself. ![]() When Will the New Features Be Available? The new features are available immediately for testing via the Apple Developer Program for the AirPods (4th generation), AirPods (4th generation) with ANC, and the AirPods Pro (2nd generation). A public beta version will be available next month via the Apple Beta Software Program. In the fall, the new features will then be publicly available as a free firmware update along with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Apple AirPods als Kamera-Fernbedienung und für Audioaufnahme "in Studioqualität" |
