Hinted at the Cannes Film Festival, they have now been officially unveiled: Angénieux is replacing its established Optimo 15-40 and 28-76 zoom lenses with the two new Optimo Ultra compact 21-56 FF and 37-102 FF. These have been optically redesigned to cover a full-frame image circle (46.3mm), while their predecessors were rated for S35+.

The new zoom lenses again offer a 2.7x magnification factor, and their speed is T2.9 throughout. There is said to be no ramping, and focus breathing is minimal. The focus travel is 310°, the minimum focusing distance is 60cm.
The zoom lenses with PL bayonet weigh 2.6 kg each, the length is 235mm with a front diameter of 114mm. Cooke Lens metadata is supported, and the lenses can also be used in extreme ambient temperatures between -20°C to +45°C. There is no information on pricing and availability yet; for orientation: the Optimo 15-40 and 28-76 zooms cost around 40,000 euros each.
