At NAB, Angelbird presented two very interesting external "recording modules" for iPhones that are far more universally applicable. Of course, the name sounds deliberately like an external recorder, but they are actually "only" very compact, external USB-C reading and writing devices that can also work well with non-Apple gadgets. Nevertheless, they cut a particularly fine figure on the new iPhones. ![]() Angelbird MagSafe Recording Modules
This is because the back of the readers offers a magnetic MagSafe connection that can be attached directly to an iPhone 15 Pro & Pro Max or to a MagSafe-compatible case. A 1/4"-20 thread according to ARRI standard with 3 mm anti-twist pins is also available for alternative rig mounting. ![]() The USB port is recessed in the readers, which makes accidental disconnection much more difficult. The built-in USB interface is designed as USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x2, which enables a maximum data transfer rate of 20 Gbit/s. This means that the cards used are likely to be the bottleneck for the time being, as a data rate of 2 GB/s can hardly be exceeded. ![]() Also included is a suitably short USB-C 3.2 cable (only 12.5 cm long), which ensures a direct iPhone connection on the back of the device without tangled cables. In this respect, these devices are very practically designed USB readers for SD or CFexpress type B memory cards, which can also be used on a PC or other cameras with external USB recording. ![]() Angelbird MagSafe Recording Modules With a recommended retail price of 118 euros, they are also not budget-breakers and, at 65 grams (without cable and card), do not drastically increase the weight of an iPhone. ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Angelbird MagSafe externe Recording Modules - nicht nur für iPhones |
