The Austrian storage media specialist Angelbird has released a new generation of its portable SSD series, the SSD2GO-PKT – the SSD2GO PKT MK3. Angelbird offers the SSD2GO PKT MK3 SSD, measuring only 70 × 9.5 × 45.5 mm, with capacities of 2 TB or 4 TB. The new models are aimed specifically at filmmakers and content creators as a robust recording medium with a maximum read and write speed of 1,800 MB/s and a sustained write speed of 1,600 MB/s. ;) Angelbird SSD2GO PKT MK3
Fast and Robust Storage SolutionThe SSD2GO PKT MK3 SSDs feature a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2 port and are backward compatible with older USB specifications. According to Angelbird, the write rate of 1,600 MB/s should remain constant across the entire capacity thanks to Stable Stream – a significant advantage when directly recording high-resolution (uncompressed) video formats (4K, 6K, 8K or higher). The housing is made of aluminum and, according to Angelbird, is shock-, dust-, and splash-proof. Security Features and AccessoriesA special feature of the Angelbird SSD2GO PKT MK3 SSDs is the write-protect switch on the housing, which is intended to prevent accidental deletion or formatting of recordings. An LED indicates whether write protection is active (orange) or whether data is currently being transferred (blinking). A flexible, 32cm long USB-C cable with fabric covering is included for connection; it plugs directly into the recessed Solid Connect port, reducing cable wear and loose connections. ;) Angelbird SSD2GO PKT MK3 Mounting Bracket Those who want to operate the SSD directly on a camera (provided the camera supports USB-C recording) can optionally use a suitable mounting bracket from Angelbird to attach the compact drive to the cage or rig.
