The new version of Apple TV Streaming Box now supports 4K playback for the first time. Together with a TV set, content with higher contrast and better colour reproduction can also be displayed via HDR 10 or Dolby Vision with up to 60fps. Playback at 4K requires a minimum downstream of 15 Mbps.
All major Hollywood studios (20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, Paramount, Universal, Warner and Sony) with the exception of Disney are on board to be able to offer suitable 4K films, with the exception of Disney - the films are not to become more expensive than the HD films so far, i. e. new releases will cost between 10-15 Euro, films from the back catalogue from 4 Euro. Users who have already bought HD movies will automatically get the 4K version for free - if available - soon. Later in the year, Netflix will also be offering content on Apple TV 4K - but there is no date for the availability of Amazon's Prime Video Service.
