Apple has just announced major updates - for both the Mac and iPad versions - of Final Cut Pro. The desktop version for Mac (Final Cut Pro 10.7) will receive an automatic timeline scrolling function, and the timeline can also be dynamically adjusted during playback using the zoom tool. ;)
Another new feature is the ability to identify and highlight clips according to their roles using the timeline index. In addition, complex timelines can now be simplified by combining a group of overlapping, related clips into a single storyline. The update should also improve performance even further: H.264 and HEVC exports of projects that are being worked on in parallel should be accelerated by automatically sending video segments to available media engines for simultaneous processing. ;) A new model for machine learning is available for the object tracker, which should noticeably improve the tracking of objects and faces on Macs with an Apple chip. Final Cut Pro für iPad In addition to the desktop version, Apple has also announced an update for the relatively new iPad version of Final Cut Pro. This should allow you to record audio directly into the timeline of Final Cut Pro for iPad via a connected or internal iPad microphone (even during playback and/or with countdown). ;) Also new for Final Cut Pro for iPad is the option to switch stabilisation on or off in professional camera mode. And as with the new desktop version, the iPad version also allows you to combine a selected group of linked clips or storylines and merge them into a single linked storyline. Price and Availability Final Cut Pro 10.7 will be available later this month as a free update for existing users and for €349.99 for new users in the Mac App Store. All users can download a free 90-day trial version of Final Cut Pro. Final Cut Pro for iPad 1.3 will be available later this month as a free update for existing users and will be available in the App Store for .99 per month or per year with a one-month free trial.
