Chinese lighting specialist Aputure has updated its Sidus Pro app for iPad (introduced just over a year ago) for professional management of lighting setups. It allows the parameters of different lights from Aputure or other manufacturers to be configured, grouped into scenes and saved, effects to be centrally controlled, layouts for light groups to be defined and much more - similar to ARRI&s Stellar app. Version 2 brings numerous improvements that should help to administer complex lighting setups even better via app. ;)
Sidus Link Pro 2 brings innovations such as auto-patching, an auto-configuration for Aputure devices as well as real-time warnings about the network status, individual pixel control and more. In addition, Sidus Link Pro now integrates all the functions of the free Sidus Link app, including Diagram Master, Illumination Handbook and Magic Infinity Effects. ConnectivityThe connection between the app and the lights is either directly via Bluetooth (if it concerns Sidus Mesh compatible lights from Aputure) or - manufacturer-independently - with the help of a transceiver such as the Sidus One/Four also via cable or radio via DMX, CRMSX, Art-Net or sACN. The innovations of Sidus Link Pro 2 in detail- Auto-Patching and Auto-Configuration: Sidus Link Pro 2.0 automatically detects connected Aputure lights and assigns DMX addresses and parameters without manual steps. According to Aputure, users save hundreds of setup steps - a network with 30 lights can be configured in just a few minutes instead of half an hour. - Real-time network monitoring: The app now provides live status messages on universes, power supply and Wi-Fi/channel usage. In addition to status displays, it shows reliable power backup notifications and enables remote access to Sidus hardware such as the Sidus Four. ;) - Individual pixel control: Individual pixels on compatible lights such as INFINIBAR or MT Pro can be controlled via iPad. This makes individually controllable effects possible on a pixel or band level - such as color gradients or animations. - Fine 0.1 % dimming: The dimmer view has been optimized with 0.1% resolution. - Sidus BT-View: In "BT-View" mode, the app focuses only on Bluetooth lights, with a reduced interface without cue control. - Complete functionality of the Sidus Link app: Sidus Link Pro 2.0 integrates functions such as Diagram Master, Illumination Handbook, Magic FX, etc., which were previously reserved for the Sidus Link app. - Console-like workspace for managing multiple universes (control of up to four DMX/CRMX universes via sACN or Art-Net). - Cue-Sequencing (real-time retrieval of light scenes in stacks with a convenient graphical interface). ;) Sidus Link Pro builds on the Sidus Link app, which has been available for some time and uses an intuitive graphical user interface. With this new version of the app, Aputure users now have the ability to perform instant action-based controls over multiple lights without delay, a feature previously only possible via console control, as well as the ability to connect to any CRMX-enabled light (a feature extended by Sidus One). This means that Aputure users can now use Sidus Link as a universal app to control all lights on set (even non-Aputure lights). Sidus One/Four, in turn, is the hardware component that makes this possible: a portable universal transceiver that connects any CRMX-enabled light to a control system. It also allows Bluetooth-enabled lights to communicate over CRMX systems and seamlessly integrates them into Sidus Link Pro. A single Sidus One creates a control universe, and up to four units can be connected together for four universes of lighting control. ;) Sidus Link Pro 2 with Sidus Four Versions and priceOne drawback - despite all the improvements - could be the pricing model of the Sidus Link Pro app for some users, as Aputure only offers it via a subscription model. The Pro Plan includes Diagram Master, Magic Program, Magic Infinity FX, 1 Universe DMX/CRMX control (via sACN and Art-Net), Cue Sequencing, Editing and Auto-Patching and costs around 10 dollars per month or 100 dollars per year in the annual subscription. With the Max Plan, an additional 3 DMX/CRMX universes can be managed with the help of the Sidus Pro 2 app, this version is available for around 20 dollars per month or 200 dollars per year.
