Assimilate had already released the free scratch RAW player in 2013 - now there is the Scratch Play Pro as a big update, which is promoted as a universal - but no longer free - player for all camera formats.
Scratch Play Pro supports sixteen camera specific formats which it can play back and transcode to ProRes (both under OS X and under Windows), H.264 (up to 8k) and 12 bit HEVC/H.265. It handles look and metadata management, output to two monitors, split view, A-B view and output via SDI (via Blackmagic, AJA or Bluefish444). VR 360/180 on VR headsets and HDR (HLG, PQ and HDR10) are also supported.
The fact that it is more than just a player is demonstrated by functions such as the parallel display (e.g. on a second monitor) of vectorscope, histogram, curves or waveforms to the played video as well as a note function (several colored notes can be added per setting). Scratch Player Pro also supports Color Grading via CDL (Color Decision List) - so 1D and 3D LUTs (.lut,.xml,.txt,.3dl,.cube) as well as CDLs can be imported and exported.
Supported camera formats are Sony F65RAW/F55RAW/F5RAW, XAVC 4K, X-OCN, SONY SRFile (SStP) MXF; Canon C200/C500/C700 RAW (RMF & CRM), C100/C300/C500 MPEG2, XF-AVC MXF, EOS 1D/5D/7D; Panasonic AVC-Intra MXF, Varicam V-RAW; RED RED REDCODE RAW (R3D) support incl.
