Atomos has released a firmware update for its compact 5" 4K60p monitor/recorder Ninja V, which enables the Olympus mirrorless cameras OM-D E-M1X and OM-D E-M1 Mark III to record videos in Apple ProRes RAW via HDMI.

The Ninja V allows users to monitor the camera&s RAW signal on the 1000 nits hgell 5" HDR screen. Users can view the image in HDR quality with a choice of HLG and PQ formats (HDR10). The Ninja V provides touch screen access to tools such as waveforms, 1:1 magnification and focus tips to control the image. The Ninja V then records the ProRes RAW data to a removable AtomX SSDmini or other SSD drive. When the capture is complete, the drive is removed and the data transferred to a computer via USB for editing.

The free firmware update AtomOS 10.56 for the Atomos Ninja V is now online. To record ProRes RAW with the Olympus OM-D E-M1X or the OM-D E-M1 Mark III, firmware version 2.0 is required for the OM-D E-M1X and firmware version 1.2 for the OM-D E-M1 Mark III.
Meanwhile more than 20 cameras like the Panasonic Lumix S5/S1H, Sony A7S III, Nikon Z 6II, Fujifilm GFX100 or the Sigma fp support the combination of Atomos and ProRes RAW. ProRes RAW is supported in Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere Pro as well as in a number of other NLEs such as Assimilate Scratch, Colorfront, FilmLight Baselight and Grass Valley Edius.
