Atomos today introduced the latest generation of its 5" &On-Camera Monitor-Recorder series with the Ninja TX. The Ninja TX combines the functionality of the Ninja Ultra with the previously optional Atomos Connect WiFi/Ethernet/SDI module plus further upgrades.

The Ninja TX thus offers both 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 inputs and outputs as well as integrated WLAN and AirGlu timecode technology. It has been completely redeveloped and now works quieter and cooler than all previous Ninja models thanks to a revised housing design - with a reduced weight of only 450 grams. The 5" full HD touch screen has received a major upgrade, it is now up to 1,500 nits, 50% brighter than the previous model and can therefore also be used for outdoor shots in sunlight.
The Ninja TX delivers the high-quality recording modes of the larger Shogun Ultra, such as ProRes and RAW recordings. Fortunately, unlike before, all important codecs such as Apple ProRes/RAW, Avid DNx and H.264/H.265 are unlocked ex works and no longer need to be activated individually. Depending on the camera output, a wide range of resolutions and frame rates can be processed: up to 120 fps in HD resolution, up to 60 fps in 4K UHD/DCI and up to 30 fps in 8K UHD/DCI resolution. For the first time, recordings can be saved on CFexpress Type B cards, which enable very high writing speeds - or directly via USB-C to external SSDs.

The new development also concerns the underlying AtomOS, which now works on a Linux basis and brings noticeably faster response times and over-the-air updates. Via integrated Wi-Fi 6E and the patented Timecode-Sync via AirGlu, the Ninja TX can be seamlessly integrated into cloud workflows. Users receive 20 GB of free ATOMOSphere storage and can upload clips directly to Frame.io, Dropbox or other services. Live streaming is also possible via NDI 6/HX3.
The Ninja TX offers all classic monitoring tools with: EL ZONE False Color, Focus Peaking, Waveform, RGB Parade and Vectorscope. Two USB-C ports allow simultaneous connection of drives or calibration devices, while a special cable locking system ensures a secure hold - HDMI locking cables are optionally available. Power is supplied flexibly via USB-C, NP-F batteries or power supply.
