Atomos has released a new (free) firmware update 10.61 for its compact 5-inch 4K60p monitor/recorder
Ninja V. Thanks to this update, users can record time-lapse and cross-convert between HDMI/SDI video sources with the addition of
AtomX SDI
module. Atomos also offers users the option to purchase an additional activation key for RAW over SDI
and HDMI
RAW inputs to SDI
video output directly from the Atomos website.

Atomos Ninja V
For example, with the new firmware update, Ninja V owners can now record time-lapse sequences where all frames are in a single video file. These recordings are possible in ProRes
, DNX and ProRes
Raw over HDMI
and SDI. A time-lapse recording can be defined by various specifications, such as the number of frames/seconds recorded; recording one frame every X seconds/minutes/hours; or by duration specified in frames/seconds/minutes/hours.
Using the newly introduced compatibility mode for HDMI and SDI
inputs, signal locking of certain cameras is improved. These cameras include the Z-Cam cameras as well as the Canon EOS - 1DX MIII at 4Kp50 and 60p video. Users also benefit from increased input and output locking stability for 12G SDI.

Atomos Ninja V
The Ninja V with AtomOS 10.61 is now able to monitor Leica L-log Gamma
in the BT2020 gamut of the Leica SL2S. Updates for other models will be available in future firmware releases.
Improved features for the AtomX SDI
module.
The update also provides new features to the optional AtomX SDI
module for the Ninja V, which enables recording of 4K60p video via 12G-SDI.
This means that cross conversions, DCI cropping, and 4k-to-HD down conversions can now be performed on video signals via HDMI
or SDI
connections. These in turn provide a bridge between devices such as EVFs, wireless TX/RX without the need for additional converters.

AtomX SDI
Modul
With a combination of Ninja V and AtomX SDI
module, users can add an additional activation key to unlock RAW functionality for the SDI
module. This requires the purchase of an additional activation via the Atomos website.
To fully enable recording Apple ProRes
RAW over SDI with a Ninja V, an AtomX SDI
module must be purchased. RAW over SDI
enablement is available now on the Atomos website for .
The supported SDI
cameras are Panasonic's Varicam LT and EVA1, Canon's C500 MKI and C300 MKII, and Sony's FX9 with XDCA-FX9 and FX6.
Note: RAW from the Sony FS7, FS700 and FS5 are NOT supported on the Ninja V via the SDI
RAW activation key.
