The Avid Media Composer will also receive an update, which will be announced at the IBC, and the supported formats are also the focus of attention here. So an encoding of ProRes files should also be possible on the PC and a native support of ProRes RAW will be introduced as it seems in Composer on Mac and PC. So far only Edius offers this on the PC as far as we know.
The closer cooperation between Avid and Apple is also evident in the support of Avid codecs on macOS. Soon 64bit decoders for DNxHR and DNxHD will be included in the Pro Video Format package, which users can download for free from Apple.
By the way, Blackmagic RAW can also be edited via Media Composer, thanks to a plugin which Blackmagic presents today with immediate availability.
Other new features in Media Composer include a better workflow for transferring video sequences between Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro, and bulk editing of metadata.
