At IBC last year,
Avid announced Apple ProRes RAW support for the Media Composer. About 14 months later it's finally here -- with the new version 2020.10 the Media Composer or its Universal Media Engine (UME) learns to handle the format. Avid editors can now link to and playback ProRes RAW files in their projects. An export to ProRes RAW format is not possible.
For ProRes RAW support to work, the
Pro Video Formats package must be installed on Apple systems with macOS v10.14 or below, on 64-bit Windows 10 systems the
Apple SDK is required.
Also new in Media Composer 2020.10 is the support of macOS v10.15.7.
