The Behind the Scenes clip from Apple has already been the subject of much discussion in the slashCAM forum - but here we would like to point it out once again. Documentary film director Brian Oakes primarily used the Blackmagic Cam app for the iPhone production and put a lot of technical effort into it. Drones, dollies, motion control systems, time code sync, cine lighting, high-end post-production and a lot of cinema know-how were used by the Head of Departments, who provide their input for productions such as Top Gun, Stranger Things etc.
We had already noticed that the image quality of the iPhone 15 Pro Max can definitely compete with established camera systems in our detailed ![]() ![]() ![]() What is your take on it? Can an iPhone make sense for productions where you would otherwise use an Alexa, Red or Venice or is it just a marketing gimmick?
