Just three weeks ago, Blackmagic introduced its Pro Camera app for the iPhone, which not only includes numerous professional features, but also seamlessly integrates with Blackmagic&s workflows, including the just-launched collaborative Blackmagic Cloud and import into DaVinci Resolve.
![]() The Blackmagic Camera App for iOS Now Blackmagic has already introduced a first update with more new features. Blackmagic Camera 1.1 now supports 23.98, 29.97 and 59.94 fps recording on iPhone 14 or newer, among other new features. There is also now support for external timecode synchronization with Tentacle Sync E. This should actually enable image-synchronized recording across multiple iPhone cameras, which can make editing multicam footage in post-production much easier. Somewhat oddly, support for the Tilta Nucleus Nano and Nucleus M lens controls "allows hands-free control of zoom and focus when your physical camera is not in range." Further, camera orientation can now be locked in Blackmagic Camera settings, allowing you to maintain the vertical or horizontal aspect regardless of camera movement. * Support for HDMI output with status text overlays. * Support for mirroring the display to HDMI output. * Project selection is now maintained across app restarts. * Existing clips are now uploaded when setting is changed to upload originals. * Fixed possible glitches with notifications received during recording. * Fixed an issue where recording could sometimes not be stopped. * Fixed availability of Apple Log option on iPhones migrated by users. * Fixed gamma issues when previewing videos in Apple Log mode. * Fixed the issue with recording to HEVC in Apple Log. * Fixed an issue with the HDMI clean feed on some TVs. * General performance and stability improvements. Blackmagic Camera App 1.1 is still available as a free download from the Apple App Store. ![]() The Blackmagic Camera app for iOS. iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max also support recording in Apple Log to capture the full dynamic range of your scene.
