There are good reasons not to always work with the latest version of a program. Nevertheless, DaVinci Resolve seduces many users with its beta versions every time, because these simply entice with a wealth of new features that want to be explored for their own workflow.
In April, Blackmagic Design announced
the new version 18.5 of its editing-compositing-grading-mastering program at NAB 2023, and since then has made five beta versions available for the curious to try out.
After much user feedback was collected and used for improvement, Blackmagic has now decided to declare the current version the final version 1.5. This is now explicitly suitable for use on production systems.

DaVinci Resolve 18.5. is now available for download in the final version.
However, after the beta is always before the beta. Firstly, experience shows that even after the final version there are still numerous bug fixes and improvements that will be added with subsequent updates. And secondly, Blackmagic would not be Blackmagic if the beta phase for an upcoming version 19 would not start soon.
Typically, such version jumps "happen" at the major trade shows (NAB and IBC), which is why we can almost certainly expect the first beta of Resolve 19 at IBC in mid-September 2023.
Speaking of expecting. We expect to see significantly more generative AI features, which are indeed
even with competitors like Adobe slowly moving into the commercial product world.
Until then, however, it's time to take a deep breath and enjoy the current version, the most important innovations of which we had explained to us visually at NAB:
