Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve 19.1.4 brings Apple ProRes to Windows!

[11:50 Fri,21.March 2025   by Thomas Richter]

Blackmagic Design has just released the new version 19.1.4 of its free grading, editing, compositing and audio mastering program DaVinci Resolve (Studio) as well as the standalone VFX tool Fusion. The most important new feature is the support for Apple ProRes on Windows and Linux, which many users have been waiting and hoping for for a long time.

Blackmagic uses Apple&s officially licensed technology via the Photon SDK, which ensures standard-compliant and high-quality ProRes integration. This is very good news for Windows users, as they no longer have to rely on cumbersome workarounds to work with ProRes in Resolve, which is particularly important for professional workflows, as ProRes is often the format of choice there due to its high quality.

The performance for network encoding and exporting embedded AAFs has also been improved.
