Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro - with integrated ND filter and viewfinder

Blackmagic Design surprised us again today with a new model in the Pocket Cinema Camera range, which bears the suffix "6K Pro". This camera is supposed to use the same sensor as the 6K model that has been available for a long time, but the new 6K Pro model primarily shines with additional hardware features. For example, there is now a retractable and at the same time tiltable 5-inch LCD screen on the back, which is now significantly brighter at 1,500 nits and should still be usable in direct sunlight.

The often criticised power supply has also been improved. The Pocket Cinema Camera now uses more powerful batteries in Sony's NPF format. In addition, there is a new, optional battery grip that can take two more NPF batteries, while a third battery can now remain in the camera. This now makes it possible to hot-swap the batteries in the battery grip - even without interrupting the recording.
OLED Viewfinder - Pocket Cinema Camera Pro EVF
Also available as an option is an additional OLED viewfinder (Pocket Cinema Camera Pro EVF), which offers an internal resolution of 1280 x 960 dots and can be well adjusted with built-in proximity sensor and four-part diopter with strengths from -4 to +4 diopters An integrated digital test chart is designed to help users adjust the viewfinder perfectly to their own visual acuity. Important status information such as. Frame guides can be displayed.

The Pocket Cinema Camera Pro EVF can be quickly attached to the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro via a single screw connection and has a swivel range of 70 degrees. Four different eyepiece cups are also included. Furthermore, there is now a second MIni-XLR input in the new camera housing:

The real surprise, however, is the integrated 3-stage ND filter, which was hardly to be expected in a housing of this size. It consists of two superimposed combination screens (1x clear and 1x ND2 as well as 1x ND2 and 1x ND4), which ultimately allows four settings in combination (0, 2, 4 and 6 ND stops). Due to the new battery and the integrated ND filter, the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro has not only increased in volume. The price is also a little higher now, although the surcharge is quite moderate, as is typical for Blackmagic. The 6K Pro model, which is supposed to be available immediately, costs just 500 dollars more (2,469 euros here). About the same as the Pocket Cinema Camera Pro EVF viewfinder (559 euros), which is also available immediately. The handgrip costs us 145 euros. Incidentally, the full version of DaVinci Resolve Studio is also included with the 6K Pro.
The camera is also said to support the new Gen5 Colour Science of the large URSA mini cameras throughout. And that's not all: the older Pocket 4K and 6K models will also get this feature via the free firmware update 7.3. And also a new RGB histogram. However, this new firmware will not be available for download immediately, but only "soon".
