Blackmagic has introduced the new version 1.5 of
Blackmagic RAW - the most outstanding innovation is the support for working with BRAW in Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer using a free plugin. The plugin eliminates the need for prior transcoding and allows Blackmagic RAW to be used throughout the workflow. When importing projects from Premiere Pro or Media Composer to DaVinci Resolve for color correction and finishing, all RAW metadata from the camera is imported with the same image quality.

The update also includes
Blackmagic RAW Speed Test, which allows users to determine what real-life performance is expected when working with Blackmagic RAW videos on a particular hardware system. The Blackmagic RAW Speed Test uses the combined multi-core CPU and GPU computing power (the latter via Apple Metal) of a computer to determine the maximum achievable decoding performance to be expected for the different Blackmagic RAW variants (3:1, 5:1, 8:1 or 12:1) at different resolutions/bit rates in frames per second (fps).

The update also brings some performance improvements and minor bug fixes. Here is our
test of Blackmagic RAW compared to CinemaDNG.
