Blackmagic Design is known for its big PR announcements, and this is another one: The body of the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF is now available for a lean ,999 or €8,089 including VAT.
However, the price is a major statement to ARRI, RED, SONY, and other competitors in the high-end cinematic segment. The camera has convinced us (in the test) www.slashcam.de/artikel/Test/Blackmagic-Ursa-Cine-12K-in-der-Praxis--High-End-Cine-Kamera-mit-herausragenden-Faehigkeiten.html#Einleitung and (regarding image quality) www.slashcam.de/artikel/Test/Blackmagic-URSA-Cine-12K-LF-Sensortest---Dynamic-Range-und-Rolling-Shutter.html. Since the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF has not been on the market for that long, this indirect price reduction seems less like a market reaction and more likely to have been planned by Blackmagic for some time as an option. The camera&s weaknesses compared to other models are mainly its weight and the lack of autofocus, although the direct competition in the top tier of cine cameras is comparable in these aspects.
