For both its 5" and 7" Video Assist 12G HDR monitor recorders, Blackmagic has released the new firmware update 3.8. It offers an improved RGB histogram and indicators for color channel clipping. This is intended to provide a more accurate reading of color channels during monitoring and recording. In addition, the update brings support for Blackmagic RAW recording with the new Fujifilm X-H2 as well as several ZCam camera models (E2, E2-M4, E2-S6 and E2-F6).

Blackmagic Video Assist 12G
When Blackmagic RAW recording with a Video Assist 12G HDR, camera settings can be saved as metadata. White balance and exposure are also encoded in the RAW file and are thus available in DaVinci Resolve. Alternatively, these settings can be overwritten there during color correction in the RAW palette.
The Blackmagic Video Assist 3.8 update is available now as a free download from Blackmagic.
