BorisFX Continuum 2025.5 masks, tracks, fixes and warps with AI

30 years ago, the first release of the Continuum plugin collection took place – a very fitting name, as Boris FX has steadily maintained it over time. A new version was recently released, adding four AI-based VFX tools.
Thanks to updated Mocha integration, Continuum 2025.5 offers two new AI-powered masking and tracking tools that together simplify the traditionally time-consuming process of effect isolation with a new workflow. Effects such as light, glow, color grading, filmstock, and particles can be applied directly in Continuum in isolation. With one click, Object Brush ML creates a mask including splines that can be seamlessly tracked across frames with Mocha, while Matte Assist ML creates a complete animated matte from a single frame and provides precisely segmented masks.
Also new is BCC+ Depth Map ML, which allows images to be quickly manipulated based on a spatial depth interpretation. For example, you can add elements such as fog only in the foreground, or perform a subsequently simulated rack focus, new light, a targeted color correction, etc. Depth Map ML automatically generates an animated image map for this purpose, based on the estimated distance of the objects to the camera. It has two machine learning models, one tuned for performance and the other for higher detail.
BCC+ Frame Fixer ML, in turn, automatically replaces missing or damaged frames in a source clip, regardless of the type or degree of damage to the frame. Only a start frame and the number of affected frames need to be specified.
With BCC+ ST Map, footage can be intelligently distorted, for example for beauty work, texture wrapping, creative distortions, or warping rectilinear formats into seamless 360° videos. ST Map metadata is used for this purpose; the tool processes ST Map images directly from a host timeline, but they can also be imported specifically.
Furthermore, Continuum 2025.5 offers 8K support for Title Studio, over 100 new presets for seven effect categories, and, according to Boris FX, faster 4K media playback (2x improved speed) in the FX Editor.
Continuum is available as a plugin collection on a subscription basis from /year or /month, as well as a perpetual license. Supported host applications include Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Apple Final Cut Pro and Motion, Foundry Nuke, Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve and Fusion, and VEGAS Pro.
