ProRes RAW has become a standard format for external raw recording over the last few years. This has been driven by Atomos& cooperation with camera manufacturers who strive to add value to their cameras in the form of RAW and achieve this with the help of external recorders such as Atomos Ninja V.
One stumbling block along the way, however, is(is) the fact that ProRes RAW originated from Apple and could initially only be processed on the Mac. While several NLEs now support ProRes RAW on Windows, such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Grassvalley Edius, those who use the free (and widely available) DaVinci Resolve for editing on a PC still cannot import ProRes RAW files. And this will probably remain the case, because Blackmagic has its own competitor format in addition to its recorders in the race with BRAW and accordingly little interest in helping the format, which is strongly marketed by Atomos, to achieve even greater reach.
A current cooperation between Atomos and Assimilate is probably due to exactly this circumstance: Anyone who buys a Ninja V / Ninja V+ monitor/recorder will now get a license for Assimilate Play Pro for free. The professional media player supports and transcodes ProRes RAW on Mac and PC and offers, among other things, look and metadata management, dual screen / SDI output. In addition to ProRes RAW, numerous other formats are supported. The creation and export of 3D LUTs is also possible.

Raw files can be converted to Apple ProRes, H.264 and H.265 (HEVC). This detour via Play Pro allows ProRes RAW material to be processed platform-independently - even under Resolve. A workflow that the current (promo) campaign is obviously intended to draw attention to. New buyers of Ninja V recorders receive the software worth for free, registered Ninja owners can buy it for . The promotion runs through the end of April 2022.
A native support under Resolve would of course be preferable, but as said not foreseeable.
