Canon has introduced the new 18.4" 4K HDR (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) DP-V1830 portable reference monitor for professionals, featuring 1,000 nits brightness and built-in HDR monitoring tools. Its a-Si TFT Active Matrix LCD panel supports 85% of the professional Rec.2020 color space, far exceeding mere DCI-P3 coverage. It also features an exceptionally low black level of 0.001 nits and meets both Dolby Vision certification and EBU TECH33201 "Class 1A" standards.
Canon DP-V1830 Reference Monitor
The DP-V1830 is the successor to the slightly smaller (but heavier) 17" DP-V1711. Like the latter, it offers four 12G-SDI inputs and four 12G-SDI outputs, an HDMI port, and an Ethernet port. It can display a maximum of 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit or 4K 30p 4:4:4 12-bit signals. Its HDR monitoring tools include a waveform monitor, false color functionality, and HDR range adjustment function - via 2 or even 4 split screen, SDR and HDR images or HDR images with false color or peaking can also be displayed side by side.

In addition to these traditional HDR image control functions, it offers new features such as a pixel value checker, out-of-range color/maximum and minimum luminance display, and a direct HDR / SDR comparison display that provide detailed information on every aspect of the signal. In addition, the DP-V1830 supports Hybrid Log-Gamma (BT.2100), HDR EOTFs, SMPTE ST 2084, ACES, Perceptual Quantization (PQ), and Canon Log gamma curves (Canon Log, Log 2, and Log 3).
Canon DP-V1830 interfaces
Due to its low weight of approx. 7.5 kg and the possibility. Power also via a DC 24 V input, the DP-V1830 is also suitable for mobile use. Like its predecessors, the DP-V1830 features Canon&s new processor concept, which allows new functions to be implemented via future firmware updates. For example, Canon plans to release firmware (albeit at a cost) in the summer of 2022 to support RGB parade waveform monitoring, as well as input switching via the multifunction SDI output. Other features are to follow.

To provide better visibility and control of image quality, the upgrade includes dual/quad display adjustments that allow user:ins to apply individual LUTs to each input, as well as a CIE standards chromaticity diagram that shows color distribution across the entire image.
