A new Cinema EOS firmware update is scheduled for release in October and will expand the capabilities of the EOS C500 Mark II and EOS C300 Mark III in the live and mid- to low-end broadcast markets, such as enabling the use of the two cameras in live environments and workflows. Key updates include:
EOS C300 Mark III
- Implementation of the XC protocol: integration into multi-camera solutions, support for direct control via the RC-IP100 and Ethernet connections.
- Optimization of AF characteristics: support for 120p / 100p AF as well as face detection in slow motion / time-lapse mode.
- Display of 4-channel audio: The level meter displays all four audio channels when this mode is selected.
- Frame.IO support for C2C (Camera to Cloud) service: Fast transfer of video files for collaborative work, sharing, feedback, and direction - as well as cloud-to-camera transfer service.
- Support for new accessories and lenses: the EOS C500 Mark II and EOS C300 Mark III work with the newly introduced CN8x15 IAS S E1/P1 and EU-V3, plus Flex Zoom series lenses are supported.
EU-V3 extension unit for live broadcast workflows
The EU-V3 expansion unit further enhances the functionality of Canon's EOS C300 Mark III and EOS C500 Mark II with new hardware and software features needed for multi-camera professional live productions.
These features include SDI return to monitor the final transfer through the camera body outputs, and a tally light that switches from green during preview to red when the transfer begins. The expansion unit also provides 12-pin lens communication for Cine Servo and broadcast lenses, Ethernet ports for remote control, and Canon XC Protocol support.

In addition, the new focus position indicator allows visual monitoring and manual registration of focus positions on compatible cine servo, compact cine servo and broadcast lenses, providing even more detailed control of the image.
