The Netflix Approved Camera list is considered an important technical accolade in the cine-afin moving image space. Netflix has now added the new Canon EOS C70 and Panasonic Lumix BGH1 to its list of cameras approved for Netflix productions, bringing to 7 the number of cameras on the Netflix list from Canon&s EOS line and two from Panasonic&s Lumx series (the first was the Lumix S1H). The Panasonic Lumix BGH1 is the cheapest Netflix camera so far, with a current street price of around 2,050 euros.

For the Canon C70, it is recommended to work in Super 35mm Sensor Mode ("Sensor Mode") in XF-AVC ("as "Main Recording Format") with 4,096 x 2,160 or 3,840 x 2,160 YCC422 10-bit ("Resolution" and "Color Sampling") in Canon Log 2 / C.Gamut ("Custom Picture / Presets").
Here are the exact specifications of Netflix to work with the Canon EOS C70 and the Panasonic Lumix BGH1. In 2019, yes, cameras from RED were the most used for Netflix productions - it will be interesting to see if this trend is confirmed in 2020.
