After Nikon could present its first full format mirrorless system cameras Z6 and Z7 with some sensation, today it is Canon&s turn. The first EOS R model is a mirrorless 35mm full-frame camera, with which Canon is now also launching a new product series. ![]() The Canon EOS R
Similar to Nikon, the EOS EF(-S) lenses of the Canon DSLRs, which are numerously represented on the market, can still be used via an adapter. However, this does not apply to EF-M lenses from Canon&s EOS-M series of mirrorless APS-C cameras. Canon&s new full format mount is now called RF-Mount. Similar to Nikon, the upgrade will be sweetened by some especially exciting sounding premium L-optics, which will only be available for the new RF mount (among others the Canon RF 28-70mm F/2L USM and a new 50mm F/1.2L USM). ![]() New L-Optics for the RF-Mount Instead of an optical viewfinder as in the SLR models, the Canon EOS R has an OLED viewfinder (3,690,000 pixels, 1,280 x 960 resolution) and a fold-out touch LCD display with 2.1 pixels. The empty housing (135.8 x 98.3 x 84.4 mm) weighs 580 g. WLAN according to IEEE 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and USB 3.1 standards were also integrated. The camera will be launched with a 30.3 megapixel sensor (36 x 24mm) which leaves some questions about the usable crop factors unanswered. In any case there will be a Super35mm-Crop, which can probably read the 4K Sensel (5.36 µm) pixelatively. A full sensor readout does not seem to be implemented. For slashCAM readers, the video specifications secured so far are likely to be of great interest: 4K the camera can only record internally in UHD format (3840 x 2160) at 24-30fps. Up to 60 fps are possible in FullHD (1920 x 1080). 120 fps are finally only implemented with 720p (1280 x 720). The internal storage is MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 with 8 bit 8:2:0 chroma subsampling. Interframe recording (IPB) with up to 120 Mbps and intraframe (ALL-I) coding with up to 480 Mbps are available. ![]() The Canon EOS R The camera has a recording limit of 29min 59sec, but uses EXFat to write files larger than 4GB. As a reminder, at a data rate of 480 Mbps, around 4GB of data is generated after just 70 seconds. The EOS R can write these data rates to UHS-II compatible SD cards. The EOS R has only one SD slot. A 4K signal with 10 bit 4:2:2 can be output via the HDMI output. ![]() The Canon EOS R DualPixel autofocus should be available for movie recording, but it is not yet confirmed whether this also applies to 4K mode or only to FullHD recording. Canon Log 1 is available according to the German data sheet. In combination with the EOS R, Canon promises "only" 12 f-stops at ISO400. Two histograms (Luma and RGB) are available as exposure aids. Peaking should be integrated for sharpness assessment. ![]() The Canon EOS R The EOS R, RF optics and various kits will be available for pre-order from 12 September. We don&t know German prices yet, but the dollar prices give a hint in which direction the fun is going: The Canon EOS R case will cost . In the kit with the RF 24-105mm f/4L IS it should be 3399 dollars. The RF L lens prices are not from bad parents: 2299 dollars for the RF 50 f/1.2L USM, 2999 dollars for the RF 28-70 f/2L USM and 499 dollars for the RF 35mm f/1.8 IS STM Macro ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Canon EOS R - Jetzt auch spiegellose Vollformat-Systemkamera von Canon // Photokina 2018 |
