Canon announces new firmware updates for the EOS R3, R5 and R6. While the v1.60 update for the R6 is rather small, several new features are added for the R3. For the R5, again, users get the option to set the auto-shutdown temperature higher. This doubles the recording times in video mode (see below).
In addition, there are the following new features: ;) Canon EOS R5 Canon EOS R5: Firmware Update v1.60.With the firmware v1.60, the EOS R5 gets the setting option of the EOS R3 for temperature management. If the temperature for automatic shutdown is set to "high," the camera&s body is allowed to heat up more before the camera automatically shuts down, depending on the operating environment. According to Canon, shooting times are extended at +23 °C as follows. Canon EOS R3: Firmware-Update v1.20Mit der EOS R3 lassen sich mit der neuen Firmware nun auch Full HD-Videos mit 240p aufnehmen. Dank der neuen benutzerdefinierten Einstellung für Highspeed-Reihenaufnahmen (Fotomodus) sind nun Bildraten von 30 Bildern pro Sekunde bis zu 195 Bildern pro Sekunde bei voller Auflösung in JPEG, HEIF oder RAW möglich (maximal 50 Aufnahmen pro Sequenz). Furthermore, a 1.6x crop or other crop ratio can now be assigned via a user-defined button that acts as a built-in extender. A time-lapse function is also added to the EOS R3, which preserves time-lapse settings when the camera loses power. ;) Canon EOS R3 SDK Updates.The new firmware offers a number of updates for operation with Canon&s Software Development Kit (SDK). New features for SDK users:inside include support for remote sensor cleaning, the ability to enable focus bracketing, the option to set high frame rate video and first curtain/second curtain/high speed sync, and for the EOS R6, the ability to remotely set mode dial functions via the SDK.
