With the Canon EOS R6 Mark III, Canon introduces its new mid-range hybrid mirrorless camera, which appears to be based on the already known full-frame sensor of the Canon EOS C50. Accordingly, the Canon EOS R6 Mark III also brings a range of video features that we already know from the Canon C50. These include internal 7K RAW recording in Canon RAW Light at up to 50/60p, as well as Open Gate recording for anamorphic or multi-aspect shots. ![]() The heart of the Canon EOS R6 Mark III is its 32.5 MP sensor, which, unlike the Canon EOS C50, is powered by the DIGIC X processor, known from the Canon EOS R5 Mark II (but without the DIGIC Accelerator). In contrast to the Canon EOS C50, the Canon EOS R6 Mark III features an in-body image stabilization system (IBIS) that is said to compensate for up to 8.5 stops in the center of the image and up to 7.5 stops at the edges. Recording FormatsTwo card slots are available for recording – one CFexpress and one SD card slot. The recording formats for moving images are Cinema RAW Light, XF-HEVC S, and XF-AVC S. Here is an overview of the different video formats and frame rates: ![]() Unlike the Canon EOS C50, the Canon EOS R6 Mark III does not have an internal fan, which affects continuous recording times. Recording LimitsConsequently, the camera shuts down after 23 minutes during 60p RAW recording with proxy recording additionally activated on the second card slot as an overheating protection measure – however, no automatic shutdowns seem to be planned for 4K 60p DCI recordings in standard LGOP. Here is the table with the corresponding recording limits: ![]() For the first time, the Canon R6 series also offers Canon Log 2 recording with the Canon EOS R6 Mark III. The most important key data for the new Canon EOS R6 Mark III are (according to Canon) as follows: - 32.5 Megapixel Full-Frame Sensor: High resolution for detailed shots - Continuous shooting speed up to 40 fps with electronic shutter - Up to 8.5 stops of image stabilization (lens-dependent, combined) - 7K RAW Light video recording with oversampling for excellent 4K quality - Open Gate mode for maximum flexibility in post-production - Dual card slots: CFexpress Type B and UHS-II SD - Integrated connectivity: 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1 Price and AvailabilityThe Canon EOS R6 Mark III is expected to be available from November 20th with an MSRP of 2,899 Euros. deutsche Version dieser Seite: Canon EOS R6 Mark III mit 32,5 MP-Sensor, 7K Raw 50/60p und Open Gate Aufnahme vorgestellt |
