Canon has today announced the new XL2 camera (XL1 and XL1S successor) officially announced that this summer is still available in stores. Pictures will follow later that day supposedly. The NTSC version of the new XL2 brings some new features: The user can choose between frame rates of 60i, 30p or 24p. For natural colors make it (as expected), three progressive scan CCDs, each with 680 000 pixels. Thanks magnified 16:9 CCDs is either 4:3 (720x480) or true 16:9 (962x480) possible. Be shown on the 2 inch color display can also 16:9 signals without Eierkoepfe. The XL2 is in progressive scan mode to capture 30 frames per second (24p even with a shutter speed of 1/48 second, we know from film cameras). There are also a number ofSettings that are found otherwise only really in professional stock: Gamma, Knee, Black, Color Matrix, Vertical Detail, Sharpness, Coring, Noise Reduction, Color Gain, Color Phase, and Film Grain. Also can master RGB Gain, Setup Level, Master Pedestal, Skin Detail, Program AE, Gain, AE Shift and Lock, White Balance, Shutter Speeds, Aperture Control, Zebra Pattern, Clear Scan and Interval Timer automatically or manually as Presets are stored. The XL2 has three Spreicherplaetze for their own settings. You can record real SMPTE timecode on the tape, the SMPTE color bars and spend Referenztoene 1 KHz (-12 db and-20db). There are proven reliable, the optical (plus electronic) image stabilization, and two XLR jacks with phantom power. The open architecture of the XL2 allows users tou003chtmlu003e compile their own camcorder system with interchangeable lenses and own their own viewfinder. Can be used are as different lenses including a 16x IS II Auto focus, 16x Mechanical Servo Zoom, 3x wide-angle and an EF adapter for use of the various Canon photographic lenses. The specifications for the German version has been released yet, unfortunately. The Canon XL2 is to be available from late September 2004 for € 5499.
