The rumor pages had been spreading it for some time, but the rumor sounded almost too incredible. Now Canon itself has explicitly confirmed the features of the upcoming EOS R5. And they sound pretty good for a DSLM from Canon. ![]() The Canon EOS R5
In addition to 8K video recording, the camera will be equipped with a movable sensor (IBIS) that can even work in combination with a lens stabilization. Canon goes so far as to promise that the "...recorded photos and videos are practically shake-free in every situation." ![]() The Canon EOS R5 Canon is just as reluctant to provide more detailed features as it is to give a price and an approximate delivery date. In any case, this camera might cause some prospective buyers to postpone their purchase planning. But a release should not be too far away, as Canon already shows the final housing in another teaser video. ![]() The Canon EOS R5 The EOS R5 will have two card slots and should be able to handle single frame mode at up to 20 fps with electronic shutter. Unfortunately, there&s still no details on how many frames the 4K mode can handle, whether it&s cecropped, whether dual pixel autofocus will work in 4K and 8K, and whether 10-bit, log, or even RAW video recording will be possible. With these features Canon could shake up the DSLM videofilming market after a decade.
