Canon with Firmware Updates for Cinema EOS C70, EOS C300 Mark III and EOS C500 Mark II

We had reported here already about the Fimrware update for the EOS R5C with important new functions, which is now also available in the bug-cleaned version 1.0.5.1. Recently, Canon has now also made corresponding Fimrware updates available for the larger Cinema EOS cameras.

The range of functions of the updates is (almost) the same for all three Cinema EOS cameras. The most important new features are likely to include support for the high-quality CN-E14-35mm T1.7 L S zoom, better Clear Scan resolution and changes to the waveform monitor size. The Canon EOS C70 also gets improved AF functions for the tracking window and for head detection in side and rear view and when wearing a helmet with the 1.0.7.1 firmware update.

Here are the new features of the Canon Cinema EOS updates in detail:

Canon EOS C70 Firmware Version 1.0.7.1

1.The following features are enabled when the following lenses are attached: CN-E14-35mm T1.7 L S:
- Displaying metadata, such as the model name and the focal distance of the lens attached.
- Displaying T number.
- Support for Peripheral Illumination Correction and Chromatic Lens Aberration Correction.
- Support for[Dual Pixel Focus Guide].
2.Enhances Clear Scan resolution.
3.Enables to change WFM size.
4.Enables to change Vector scope gain by touch.
5.Enables to change WFM/Vector scope transparency.
6.Improves AF performance.
- Enables tracking frame to change variably depending on subject.
- Enables to detect heads facing sideways or backwards, or in situations such as when wearing a helmet.
7.Adds[Select Subject] assignable function via control ring/dial.

Canon EOS C300 Mark III Firmware Version 1.0.6.1

1.The following features are enabled when the following lenses are attached: CN-E14-35mm T1.7 L S:
-Displaying metadata, such as the model name and the focal distance of the lens attached.
-Displaying T number.
-Support for Peripheral Illumination Correction and Chromatic Lens Aberration Correction.
-Support for[Dual Pixel Focus Guide].
2.Enhances Clear Scan resolution.
3.Enables to change WFM size.
4.Enables to change Vector scope gain by touch.
5.Enables to change WFM/Vector scope transparency.
6.Enhances SDI-OUT functions.
-Adds the ability to output PsF when in S&F mode. (16:9 only)

Canon EOS C500 Mark III 1.0.8.1

Firmware Version 1.0.8.1 incorporates the following enhancements:
