Sony introduce at CeBIT 2004, the prototype of an HDV camcorder that can also record in 1080i mode (ie 1440 X 1080 pixels interlaced at 50 or 60 fps) and of course 720p (1280 X 720) at 60/50/30/25 fps. Sony announced a range of assistive devices such as HDTV or HDV camcorder, and displays and video applications to be developed. Sony, Canon, Sharp and JVC have the introduction of the HDV format jointly announced in September 2003 - since then HDV is more and more manufacturers, including increasingly supported by video editing programs. HDV as a kind of consumer HD stores the high resolution HD video in MPEG-2 format fairly heavily compressed to DV tapes on (for instance, with a maximum of 25 Mbps, of which 384 Kbps MPEG-1 Layer 2 audio) - the JVC HD-10 6 Frame GOP uses to achieve a similar low data rate to as high resolution. Since the same tape speed and track width is used, such as DV, HDV is conveniently mechanically compatible with existing computer drives.
