A revised OM-5 Mark II with manageable innovations was announced this week. The very compact and robust Micro Four Thirds system camera has received a redesigned grip for better ergonomics and now offers the menu structure of the OM-1 series. It still doesn't offer any special unique selling points for filmmakers - as before, a maximum of 4K 30p or Full HD 120p can be recorded for slow-motion recordings. However, two new OM-Cinema video profiles have been added: OM-Cinema1 and OM-Cinema2. OM-Log400 remains available.
Like the OM-1, the camera now has a special CP button that allows quick access to "Computational Photography" functions, including a digital ND filter (ND2–16), Focus Stacking, Live Composite, HDR (HDR1 and HDR2), multiple exposure, etc.
The OM-5 Mark II measures 125.3 mm × 85.2 mm × 52.0 mm (W × H × D) and weighs approx. 418 g (including battery and memory card). The Live MOS sensor has a resolution of 20.37 million pixels and is movably mounted for 5-axis image stabilization. The TruePic IX image processor is responsible for the calculations. New on the housing are a USB-C port and a small light for video recordings. The camera is splash-proof and dustproof (IP53) and freeze-proof down to -10 °C.
The OM-5 Mark II from OM Digital Solutions Corporation will be available from early/mid-July 2024 for 1299 euros.
